Resources and training: Going beyond email

If the membership wants to communicate and share ideas, a network must be set up and people need to know how  to use its tools. Obviously, the Internet serves this purpose as well as the tools for social media. Perhaps the first  goal is to assist those friars who need to know more about the Internet and go beyond receiving and sending email. Here are some possible steps for goal #1:

1) Identify those friars who understand the Internet and social media.
2) Invite the membership to attend a workshop. The provincial can send a letter emphasizing the importance of the workshop as a way for communicating with the order, and possibly, with the General Chapter in 2013.
3) Participate in the workshop before September 2012. The workshop should cover topics as how to navigate the Internet, Facebook, and Twitter. Knowledge  on the use of Skype is helpful.

Is this a realistic goal? What is your opinion?

Thank you, Wieslaw, for making the first comment! How can we better this blog so that the OSA in Poland can share comments? We are open to new ideas.

Wonderful idea but... previous to that goal you must make sure that all brothers get involved in the project. In some provinces these activities are never known by all members . And second, many brothers read and write only one language, maybe one or two brothers should translate into spanish and italian these comments. Greetings from Mexico City,

Juan Carlos, you are correct in your observations. We have a person designated to translate the comments and posts. We need to be quicker with the translations. Thank you.
It is true that we need to animate the membership to participate in the project. Our hope is that if they participate in the blog, to begin with, they will become more committed to the project. Participation = commitment. At this point, we need to make the person-to-person contact. Thank you for your suggestions.

Great start to have us begin to be more effective in responding to God's invitation to us to ministry in the world today.

Thanks for the initiative…It will surely help.

However, there is a need for a bit of formation within provinces with regards to social communication means, the relationship of committed Christians and the social communication means, and this to enhance the whole project…thus not only focusing on the ‘technical’ parts.

Communication is key to growth and community. Disseminating information electronically will enhance this growth and bring all of the Augustinian family into better contact with each other.

Thank you for this great and wonderful initiative. I just copied and pasted a link of this website to our Province's facebook fanpage to create more audience and awareness to some of our brothers here in the Philippines. https://www.facebook.com/cebuprovince

I think we need to re-imagine what the vow of obedience means in today's Church. Is this the place for such a discussion among Auggies?

There are all kinds of ways to be poor. One of them is a poverty of education, which may be interpreted as a poverty of civility or the values of civilized human life. How might we as religious devoted to education affect the civil education system, that is, to effect some kind of systematic change in the public school system?

Dear Bob:

It seems like interest is waning. I hope this doesn't mean it is wanning!

People cooperating and work together for a common cause will make its impact in the society and bring the change. This blog is the example of it where common opinion and experiences are shared and it speaks a lot for the readers. Thanks for making this blog informative.

I loved the manner in which you set up together everything, there is absolutely no compelling reason to go any further to search for any extra data. You referenced each and everything that too without breaking a sweat.
